The Happy Tree Friends Writer's Questions and Answers Topic
Since the show writers Kenn Navarro, Ken Pontac and Warren Graff are active on this site, they'll be here to answer your questions. Warren answers questions in this discussion and Kenn (and other mods at this site) answers questions on his comment wall.
The Rules: Be patient, the writers of HTF may take a while to answer your questions because they're busy people. Don't answer any questions yourself and keep discussions about the questions and/or answers to a minimum. Keep in mind that the writers can not take ideas from fans due to legal reasons.
Don't ask questions about merchandise or release dates for episodes, it's out of Warren's, Kenn's and Ken's jurisdiction. If you have questions about the site, ask Cliff Malloy or Z.

If there was no Lumpy, I'm sure there would be another character who would be just like him. Because of who we are and how we work, I think that we would have had a "Lumpy type" character no matter what. We just love stupid characters like that.

I think it's great that you guys are inspired to do mash-ups and parodies etc. I don't watch a lot of it, because I just don't have the time, and a lot of the references are from shows and games that I don't watch or play. The energy and enthusiasm of our fans is one of the greatest rewards of working on the show.
Getting a paycheck, though, that's the greatest reward of all!

We'd like to do more Handy episodes, but he's hard to write for, because all his gags are based on his handicap (is that the politically-correct phrase? We don't want to offend anybody here at Mondo Media!). Cro-Marmot is almost impossible to write for (that being said, Kenn and I came up with a Cro gag yesterday that had us giggling like beached idiots (I'll send a signed script to the first person to post the origin of that phrase). And when we were doing the TV series we were never able to come up with a Handy episode. What's that all about!?

QUESTION:
Have you guys or any of the others ever considered making a Happy Tree Friends movie? It's really popular, since it has it's own video game now. I think I speak fr all of us here when I say, "A Happy Tree Friends movie would be totally awesome!"
Again, don't take it into consideration if you don't feel like it.

I agree, it would be totally awesome.
The problem is holding a linear story with non-speaking characters that die regularly for 90 minutes is difficult to say the least. We've joked about it when we were working on the TV show, because doing the TV show was hard...and each one of those were only 7 minutes.
When we originally designed the show each episode was only supposed to be a minute long (give or take). A quick set up, a bloody death or five, credits.
So as cool as a movie would be, I wouldn't hold your breath.
